Digital Citizenship Self-paced Online Course
Digital Citizenship is about the responsible use of technology to learn, create and participate.Â
In this course, learners think about the effects of not only the quantity but also the quality of screen time on their health, relationships, and well-being. They learn practical strategies to balance media and non-media activities in their everyday lives. This online course includes a collection of six (6) lessons that help you slow down and self-reflect, explore perspectives, seek facts and evidence, envision options and possible impacts and then challenge you to take action.
Through these lessons, learners will:
- Reflect and consider how digital media adds to or takes away from their overall quality of life.
- Understand how data can benefit both individuals and governments and using that knowledge to become thoughtful influencers of data policy and practice.
- Learn to use the power of the internet to turn personal passions into positive impact.
- Learn how to keep disagreements civil so their ideas will be heard and they can advocate for positive change.
- Consider 'online disinhibition' before they post, and stop digital drama and cyberbullying before they start.
- Learn about misinformation and how to use lateral reading as a strategy to verify accuracy of online information.
