HE433 Biostatistics and Epidemiology
Welcome to HE433 Biostatistics and Epidemiology.
Epidemiology is a
key discipline for understanding and improving public in PNG and throughout the
world. It is increasingly important for health
professionals (both clinical and non-clinical) to acquire skills necessary to
find, understand and evaluate research information in this area. The unit is covers basic epidemiology principles,
concepts, and procedures useful in the surveillance and investigation of
health-related states or events. The unit also provides opportunity for
students to familiarize themselves with basic biostatistics concepts and tools. Students learn how to select appropriate
statistical tests for particular types of data. This unit generally prepares students to apply
this knowledge to the evaluation of and control of health problems in the
community.
